Bayer Cropscience was formed in 2002 when Bayer AG aquired Aventis Cropscience. Aventis Cropscience was a combination of Hoechst and Schering (AgrEvo) and Rhone-Poulenc. Bayer Cropscience is heavily involved in the genetic engineering of food in additon to conventional agrochemical business.
The company is desperate for genetically modified crops to be grown commercially. Most potential Frankenstein crops to be planted in Europa are owned by Bayer Cropscience. But if Bayer gets away with GM crop commercialisation, it could open the floodgates for widespread growing of GM food – we can not afford to let this happen. By targetting Bayer Cropscience and forcing them to not produce GM seeds, we can stop the commercial growing of GM food all over Europe.
